Feedback from students
1. Dr. Pai is a brilliant scholar and clinician, on the level of those who taught the authors of our textbooks when they studied in China. His depth of understanding is obvious when he answers questions in class. He explains what I used to consider perplexing concepts simply and clearly, encouraging critical analysis in addition to the necessary memorization. TCM doctors with his talent rarely come to the US. We’re so lucky to have him at PCOM!
2. Dr. Pai’s passion for TCM is both infectious and contagious. Walking into my first Herbs class at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, I had no idea what to expect. A captivating lecture ensued. Single herbs came to life, developing elaborate personalities that transformed depending on the accompanying herbs. As a skilled yet humble teacher, Dr. Pai combines deep knowledge with experience, and with astute precision expounds rich lectures that are multifaceted, presenting herbs and formulas through the intricately woven fabric that is Chinese Medicine Theory. One of his many gifts is how he is able to communicate profound and complex ideas so that they are attainable to students at any level. The lectures heard in Herbs and Formula classes not only strengthen and develop concepts taught in other classes, but also give depth and meaning to these concepts.
3. FAVORITE class this semester. Dr. Pai is an excellent teacher! His lectures are interesting. His knowledge is thorough. He is clear and concise. I love getting the historical information. I remember every story he tells in relation to the formulas we're learning. He has been working from the start to make sure that we really have a grip on TCM theory and the importance of making the correct diagnosis - not just on memorizing. He seems genuinely concerned for all of his students. I think we are so lucky to have him. I will take any class he teaches at PCOM.
4. I feel fortunate to have had so many of my herb classes with Pai. He is a brilliant man, who gives incredible lectures, that offer such deep perspectives and insight into the course material. 5. Dr. Pai is the best teacher I have seen so far at PCOM. He has a deep understanding of TCM and classical herbology that is rare in teachers anywhere. Please hold on to him. He is the main reason why I am happy to be a student here at PCOM. And he's an excellent clinic supervisor!
6. My overall experience .... is that I am learning to become a technician of Chinese Medicine. When taking a class by Dr. Pai, I feel like I am learning how to be a physician of Chinese Medicine.
7. His knowledge, respect and reverence for herbs and formulas is amazing and genuine. He teaches a respect for a modality that is not recognized by the state, but is a most necessary modality for a practitioner. We take herbs not because it is a necessary requirement to be licensed. We take the program due to educators such as Dr Pai.
