Huang-Di-Nei-Jing course description
PURPOSE OF THE COURSE :
Huang-Di-Nei-Jing, the Inner Canon of the Yellow Emperor, is the foundation of TCM. Even though it is
said to be written 2000 years ago, and it focus more on the physiological aspect of Traditional Chinese
Medical concept, almost everything related with TCM originated from this book. For examples the theory
of Yin and Yang; the five element theory, the acupuncture meridian system; the six stages for the Shang-
Han-Lun; the anatomy and physiology of the organs etc are all first described in this book. What mentioned
above are only a few of the important. This course tries to introduce this original classic.
CONTENT OF THE COURSE:
The course will be presented in lectures, presentation and discussion. The original text contains two portion,
a) Su-Wen素問 and b) Ling-Shu靈樞.

l The attendance will account for 20 %.
l In the first class there will be assignment for each student for this course. The student should be prepared and present his or her part in the class as arranged. Print out for the class preferably 1 week before the presentation is required. The presentation and discussion takes 20%.
l The 2 quizzes (10% each), midterm and final (20% each) will be open book test.
