The Treatise on Febrile Disease Caused by Cold, Shang-Han-Lun 傷寒論, is one of the most important classical works of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It introduces the diagnostic system, treatment principles, and herbal formulas that form the basis for the practice of Chinese herbal medicine. The purpose of this course is to study this classical work, and then to explore the subsequent development and contributions of Warm Disease Theory (Wen Bing Xue溫病學) to TCM. Through careful study of the Shang-Han-Lun 傷寒論 and Warm Disease Theory students will be encouraged to develop critical thinking skills and to deepen their understanding of TCM history, theory, and practice.
